Minimum Auto Insurance Requirements
North Carolina
For North Carolina auto policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2025, the minimum liability limits are 50/100/50:
- Bodily Injury: $50,000 per person
- Bodily Injury: $100,000 per accident
- Property Damage: $50,000 per accident

NC Department of Insurance: auto coverage changes effective July 1, 2025
South Carolina
Basic coverage is often referred to as 25/50/25 coverage with 25/50/25 uninsured motorist limits.
- Bodily Injury Per Person: $25,000
- Bodily Injury Per Accident: $50,000
- Property Damage Per Accident: $25,000
- Underinsured motorist coverage is not required, but it must be offered.
