NC Minimum Automobile Insurance Requirements

For North Carolina auto policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2025, the minimum liability limits are 50/100/50:

  • Bodily Injury: $50,000 per person
  • Bodily Injury: $100,000 per accident
  • Property Damage: $50,000 per accident

Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage are also required. If NCDMV has asked you for proof of insurance, bring the notice with you. A DL-123 is the form NCDMV uses as proof of liability insurance, and we can help with the insurance side of that request.
